National housebuilder pledges to help hedgehogs

Bovis Homes, part of the newly formed Vistry group, plan to help hedgehogs in their developments.

In a new partnership with the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, the developer has pledged to help hedgehogs through the installation of Hedgehog Highways.

The developer will install Hedgehog Highways in current and future housing projects, in order to increase hedgehog habitat in urban areas. Plans also include putting hedgehog houses in green spaces within developments, in order to increase nesting opportunities for local ‘hogs.

The highways will also provide a lifeline for other small mammals, frogs and insects, who also require pathways between gardens.
