We woke up with a guest this morning!
-
For the last couple of months our regular spiky visitors have gone from one regular, to a courting pair and now 3 adults and 3 bubbas!
They have kept out strawberry garden bug problem under control and we rewarded them with a hide and they love it!
Indoors we have guinea pigs that free roam into the garden via a pipe tunnel from their enclosure (also open plan to the house) which gets shut off at night. A few times they have toddled their way to the hide and had to stop short as there was a resident.
Last night however, the pipe didn’t get shut off until late at night as we were busy (the guinea pigs never go out after dark) and we didn’t realise we had a guest!!
A cheeky little spike had trundled all the way up along the pipe and gotten into the conservatory via their enclosure! He had finished the cat food and made a lovely cosy nest in the guinea pig hay pile and gone to sleep!!!!! The guinea pigs weren’t bothered by their guest but when they had gone out for the day we carefully repositioned the pile of hay and hedgehog into the hide and gave the enclosure a thorough clean!!
Tonight the tunnel will be blocked from the outside to save this becoming a regular pit stop!!!
Hi piggymumma
I love that story! Clever little hedgehog!
