Last night I popped out to move a plant that was blocking the cameras view to the feeding station, to find Ralph our big male lodger and Blondie a smaller blonde skirted hog together, we have never seen this before, so I dashed in, turned off the lights and we sat and watched what turned out to be a mating ritual!!! It was a very long affair, with much very loud huffing and puffing. Ralph circled and circled over and over with her keeping relatively still. From time to time he wandered off chuntering then came back and began it all over again. She crouched and kind of flattened her self to the ground while (eventually) he mounted her. This went on until about 1.30 this morning!! We cannot get over the noise she was making, initially I thought they were going to fight, but there was no aggression. He even followed her into one of the feeding stations, but that didn’t seem to impress her much. Eventually they just parted and went their separate ways. I feel so excited, I thought the mating season was around June but these two obviously aren’t aware of that…
