Lawn cutting

I think my hog house is being used which is great but it is near the edge of the lawn, can I mow the grass near it or not???

I guess that is up to you really. You would just be taking the risk that any hog might not like it. It would possibly vary from hog to hog but, you may need to consider whether the hog house is in the best location. But the interesting thing about lawns is: Last year I decided to leave some longer patches on my lawn and found that the hogs began to spend a lot more time on the lawn foraging (as seen on cam). It seems that they don’t like it so much when it gets very long, so what I’m trying now is to mow the longer patches on a really high setting. They seem to like having the variety of some longer and some shorter. So, you could just leave a longer patch in front of the hog house, if it is practical and maybe shear it when it gets a bit too long.

Before cutting grass it is always good practice to check that there is no sleeping hog. Hogs can get really horrible injuries from strimmers, mowers and garden implements. They are likely not to run from the sound of a mower, etc., but stay curled up. I had a hog who came to my garden with a strimmer injury last year and it was so bad the poor chap had to be put down.
