Is it too late for giving birth?
-
I have a hedgehog that visits every night, multiple times a night.
I have a camera and feed every day.
But I haven’t seen it since Monday night. It looked very healthy and was moving fine. Nothing has changed in my garden, no disturbance etc and I’ve had a good look on local roads just in case it’s been hit by a car, but nothing.
So my question is, is it too late for a hedgehog to have babies? Could that explain a sudden disappearance? I really hope its temporary as I’ve fed it all through the winter, even in snow when it kept showing up.
Hi Willow110
No, it isn’t too late for hedgehogs to give birth – and that could potentially explain a sudden disappearance. But males also will sometimes decide to focus on other parts of their ranges and seem to disappear.
Hopefully the hedgehog will soon be back. If with hoglets, all the better!
Good luck.
Thank you for replying, fingers crossed little hoglets will arrive then and it’s not a male that’s cleared off!!
