Hedgehogs disappear after Tom cat visits
-
We have just been watching videos of last nights hedgehogs using the feed station. They were active until 2:30am until a Tom cat arrived. The cat cannot enter the feed station so it sprays over the station and up the wall. No hedgehogs returned after that.
I don’t think the cat is a direct threat to the hedgehogs but they must be deterred by the smell. This happens regularly
That’s interesting Baldwin hedgehog. I’m not sure the hogs here are too keen on the local cats. I have very seldom seen them here at the same time.
Hi Nic,
I was initial worried that the big Tom would harm the hedgehogs but luckily i think he leaves them alone.
The Tom know’s he can’t enter the feed station, i made the entrance too small for cats to enter but he still scent sprays to declare ownership of it. without fail the hedgehogs are deterred by it so i have to hose down daily.
