Hedgehog with white marks

We have a hedgehog in our garden that we last saw in November. It has re-appeared in the last couple of days. It’s a decent size but has white marks on its back. Does anyone know what this could be?
Hi Cat yes i know some people mark the hogs so they can recognise them , what for i don’t know. But it shouldn’t be done . I get a few hogs in my garden with marks can be harmful to them as well , think it could be paint sorry to say.
