A hedgehog has just recently started frequenting our garden so we are novice hedgehog “carers”. We have noticed that his stools are very loose. The last few nights we have been leaving out a small amount of dry hedgehog food and water. This morning when I went to collect the bowls I noticed a thin white “worm” in the water bowl. I realise it is normal for wild animals to have parasites, but should we be worried about his diarrhoea? Maybe he can’t put on enough weight for the winter or is at risk of dehydration? Also, we have six dogs and I don’t want them to catch any parasites from the hedgehog poo. Is there a risk this might happen?

    Hi Tiina0

You might like to try asking your question again in the Carers/rescuing a hog section. The people who are hog carers might be more likely to see it there. They might see it here as well, but in this section it could get bogged down with other posts more easily.
