Any Hedgehogs in Cramond, Edinburgh?
-
Have just moved to the area and after seeing an article about the species decline, have left out water over summer and started to put out cat food since mid September. Set up a night cam and only a rat and then a regular cat (which presumably has caught the rat). I got this one image and for the life of me can’t figure out what it is. It has a hog like snout but that’s as far as it goes. Its leg looks more like a foxes. Any ideas?

Hi Thomas
Your image didn’t want to open for some reason, so I can’t help with that. But, if you want to find out whether there are any hogs around in your area, it might be worth having a look at the Big Hedgehog Map – accessed via the Home page of Hedgehog Street. It does rely on people entering them in the first place, but might give you some idea.
Thanks for the replies. I did look at the interactive map and there are indeed one or two. Recently moved here from Lancashire where hedgehogs are common and regularly sighted.
Hi Thomas
Well, that’s good news. Maybe it’s a bit late this year, but hopefully next year they will find your garden. Good luck!
