    Hello!

We are so pleased to have seen that hoggis are once again using our garden as their residence.

We have noticed this time around that there are 2 hoggis using the house 🙂 One of them seems to come out first just after 8pm! and then the other will join it after 9. we’ve seen them both go in and out of the house. And both of them come out at the same time. Are they likely to be 2 females? They don’t seem to go off on their nightly adventures together. One leaves before the other does.

    Hi Mrsoakley

Glad to hear you have been enjoying the hogs being there.

We seem to be hearing more reports, recently, of more than one hog using the same hog house. It’s most likely they are younger ones and will eventually want homes of their own. It could be that they have been overwintered with a carer, when they sometimes keep more than one hoglet together and they may not have grown out of it yet, but it could also be a shortage of places for them to sleep.

But in the summer they don’t seem to make much of a nest for day sleeping so two could fit into most hog boxes quite easily – for instance I have heard of one sleeping in the chamber and another in the ‘corridor’ – but when it comes to hibernation it seems likely that they will want nests of their own.
