Bonfire night can be an extremely dangerous time for hedgehogs. As the hibernation season approaches, a large pile of logs will look like an enticing nest for hedgehogs. But sadly, as we know danger awaits in such settings. Thankfully, awareness of these dangers is growing, but there’s always more we can do. Luckily there are simple ways to prevent hedgehogs accessing pyres and checking for their presence before lighting.

Spread the word

Send our bonfire safety tips to local councils, sports clubs and other event organisers to alert them to the potential dangers to hedgehogs, as well as ways to mitigate them.
