11th November 2021

Henry the Hedgehog Dog has won the Worker Category of the 2021 Naturo Superdog Awards. The star-studded ceremony took place in London where seven winners were awarded their trophies, including Henry’s owner, Louise Wilson.

Henry is an an ambassador for Conservation K9 Consultancy, which trains dogs to help with conservation, wildlife research and ecology. Supported by PTES and BHPS, he has helped to survey and protect hedgehogs, appearing in one research paper, with another one on the way. Dr Lucy Bearman-Brown from Hartpury University has worked with Henry to investigate how effective detection dogs are at finding hedgehogs, when compared to normal methods, such as spotlighting.

The Naturo Superdog Awards is a celebration and recognition of the UK’s most exceptional dogs. Winners of each category were decided by an online, public vote, and celebrity dog-lover Stacey Dooley hosted the ceremony. Henry won the Worker category, which is a celebration of a dog who has gone above and beyond in their working role.
We are so proud of Henry and how his work has helped hedgehogs around the UK.
