My gut feeling is that you’re right. It’s his safe place and there aren’t too many bigger males passing through that particular spot. He’s youngish, robust enough, but has had a couple of bashings from the bigger males on occassion. He won’t be budged from his comfy spot though…that’s his. We also suspect he’s an overwintered hog we took in last year and released this spring, hence not particularly put off by us milling about him. Hope he gets the girl anyway, if that’s his game plan x
