    Hi Tia

    Welcome to the Forum!

Hedgehogs are quite opportunistic so if you leave your door open and it could smell the food it isn’t surprising that it would go in. Hedgehogs are often offered cat or dog food for supplementary food, so it may be familiar with the smell of it from elsewhere. You might like to try leaving some food outside for the hedgehog instead to discourage it from going in. It would be unfortunate if it got shut in by mistake.

It’s also very important to leave water available for hedgehogs all day every day. Wide but shallow plant saucers are ideal for that.

Good luck and happy hog watching!
