Frankie and friends promote Hedgehog Street at school
30th November 2011
Nine year-old Frankie has really got her teeth into the Hedgehog Street project and has spoken to all her neighbours about hedgehogs!
From left to right: Katie, Ruby, Frankie, Abigail and Mr Murphy of Maidenbower Junior School in Crawley, West Sussex.
Frankie’s Mum explains “We had the posters enlarged and Frankie has set up an exhibit in the Library at school accompanied by a word search competition to bring this issue to the attention of our local community. They have had an enormous response from the competition and the Headmaster, Mr Murphy is going to announce the winners next week. Frankie has decided to do an exhibit three times a year to keep her schoolmates interest. Her first exhibit was about hibernation, woodpiles and Bonfire Night. She managed to get her Dad to buy some Hedgehog moulds so that she can make them to sell at the School Christmas Fare for the Charity and her Grandma is going to make some Hedgehog cakes to sell also.”
Thank you so much to Frankie for all her hard work. Hopefully this will inspire other Hedgehog Champions to keep going with the project over the winter months. Thre is still plenty to do, even though hedgehogs are going into hibernation. Visit Help Hedgehogs for more ideas.
