Hi Nikstar

The thing about hogs is they are quite promiscuous and a female will mate with more than one male. (Apparently some litters have even been found to have more than one father). The males don’t normally have anything to do with the rearing of hoglets. It seems unlikely a male would attack hoglets as they have no way of knowing whether they are their own offspring.

From my own observations – and that was once the hoglets were out and about – the males are very tolerant of them, even letting them take over a food bowl and edge the male out! That is until they reach a certain size, then it seems the gloves are off! Females, other than the mother, seem equally tolerant.
