The best thing to do is dig up the weeds in the lawn, if you don’t want them there. Any gap soon fills up and you can always put a small amount of earth and a few grass seeds there if necessary. But having a variety of plants in the grass can help the biodiversity and therefore the hogs. So maybe you might learn to love the weeds.
