Maybe a stupid question but we’ve only ever seen 1 hedgehog at a time in our garden and tonight we’ve just seen 2 feeding together. Would this be a make and female? I can’t find the right place to look for this information.

    Hi Norfolk hedgehog

Possibly but not necessarily. Hedgehogs have ranges rather than territories and their ranges overlap. So that two males or two females or a male and female could have overlapping ranges.

Their interactions/behaviour can sometimes give some hints about whether they are male or female.

I wrote a response to someone else recently – link to topic below – with tips on how to tell male from female. Which might help.

Great that you have had two hogs there. Happy hog watching.
