Thanks for the response Nic. I have abandoned the trap and tried to dissuade the rat by attacking it which seems to have worked, I havn’t seen it since! I have seen hogs though, we appear to have 4 in the garden each evening 2 adults and two hoglets probably born in June but regretfully in late July that seems to have reduced to three, a flat appeard on a local road so probably was one of ours!
