Hi NG, I have one of these – expensive but does the trick! I had a cheaper one but found it was very unreliable both in terms of image capture – but Hedgehogs are experts in avoiding being seen even though you have evidence of them having been there! – and also image quality.
They were both easy to set up though – so I would just make sure you use a supplier with a good returns policy if it doesn’t meet your needs.
Mine was an early birthday present (by the time my birthday arrived my OH had forgotten so I was lucky to receive another gift!!)
I use a IEGeek 1080 cctv camera on amazon for £59.99, the wireless side is not the best and it connects directly to an internet router. Ours is in the shed and I use a ethernet over power plug to connect it to the router. It can be viewed it through a computer phone etc. and it can set it to record to a computer as well as a memory card. I found the camera trap eats batteries
This is the one I bought recently, very pleased with it 🙂
It lasts around 10 nights on a set of batteries before they need renewing and has provided some great footage of hedgehogs, foxes, cats, magpies and moths in the garden.
My only annoyance is that the trigger cone is probably wider than the video, so it sometimes triggers but doesn’t show anything interesting 🙁
There are cheaper, lower spec models in the range.
